As nostalgic R&B makes a comeback in the mainstream, aimi and JASMINE have joined forces to deliver a distinctive blend of modern and nostalgic R&B, infused with messages of empowerment. This collaboration promises to bring a fresh perspective to Japanese music. JASMINE, a viral sensation of her generation, debuted in 2009 under the Sony Music Entertainment label. Her major hit “sad to say” established her as a rising star in the Japanese R&B scene. In 2020, she paved the way for a new wave of talent with her bilingual R&B project. Today, she teams up with aimi to create an EP that explores powerful themes.

Produced by Modesty Beats, the project consists of two R&B tracks that evoke various emotions. “Risk It All” is a song that tackles the struggles and risks of pursuing one’s true passions. It embodies a rebellious attitude towards the Japanese music industry and serves as a response to those who have doubted the potential and dreams of artists in the past. With this track, aimi and JASMINE aim to inspire listeners to believe in themselves and never give up on their aspirations.

On the other hand, “My Girl” celebrates the bond between sisters. Inspired by their shared childhood in a challenging environment, the song depicts the unbreakable connection that binds them. It highlights the support and love that aimi and JASMINE have for each other, emphasizing the importance of family relationships and mutual support. In addition to the music, the EP “Risk It All” visuals draw inspiration from the fashion aesthetic of the 2000s, echoing the iconic girl group icons like Destiny’s Child and TLC. These fashion influences add a captivating visual dimension to the music experience.

With their EP “Risk It All“, aimi and JASMINE push the boundaries of Japanese R&B by blending modern sounds with nostalgic elements. Their collaboration promises to bring new energy to the music scene and capture the hearts of listeners through powerful messages of empowerment and support. Don’t miss this exceptional release, which marks a significant milestone in the careers of these two talented artists.

aimi biography

With a voice that combines delicacy and power, this R&B singer captivates with her groovy and emotional songs. She skillfully switches between Japanese and English in her writing, blending the current R&B sound with flavors from the R&B of the 90s and 00s. In 2020, she released her first EP, “Water Me“, as an independent artist, which debuted at the top of the iTunes R&B/Soul chart. In 2021, she released her second EP, “Changed 4 Good“, which has been gaining popularity throughout Asia.

That same year, she became a personality on the R&B show “Vibe-In Radio” on block.fm, and also wrote a recurring column showcasing the latest R&B music on the official record label’s website for a year. “Vibey“, the first R&B event organized by Vibe-In Radio, attracted over 250 people. In February 2022, she released her third EP, “Chosen One“, again reaching the top spot on the iTunes R&B/Soul chart. She performs nationwide, including Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Tohoku, and other cities. Last year, she successfully hosted her first event, “Stay Ready“, at Space Odd in Daikanyama, Tokyo. She was also selected as the inaugural artist for the new “BACARDI SOUND Distilley” project by the rum brand BACARDI, and collaborated with the producer/DJ tofubeats to produce a song.
