Tokyo-based rapper Masato Hayashi released the music video for his track Kyoumiganai feat. MUD (prod. dubby bunny) on Thursday, March 6, a song from his album released last January. The video, directed by Ryota Nagashima, features Masato alongside MUD, a member of the KANDYTOWN collective and a longtime friend of the artist. This marks their second musical collaboration. The clip stands out for its alternative aesthetic with American influences and its many ingenious visual effects, which capture the viewer’s attention until the very last second.

Who is Masato Hayashi?

Originally from Hachioji in Tokyo, Masato Hayashi is a hip-hop artist whose artistic journey is marked by significant evolution. He began his career in 2017 under the pseudonym Pablo Blasta, quickly gaining recognition with his track “Tokyo Young OG” and several prestigious collaborations. His notable features include “ビッチと会う feat. Weny Daccillo, Pablo Blasta & JP THE WAVY” and “Good Die Young feat. RYKEY & Pablo Blasta” alongside DJs CHARI & TATSUKI, works that helped him build a solid reputation in the Japanese underground scene.

As he gained popularity, Masato surprised his audience by suspending his activities in 2019. After two years of silence, he returned to the music scene in 2021, abandoning his former stage name to adopt his current name, Masato Hayashi, marking a turning point in his career and artistic identity. His comeback was crowned with success with the release in February 2022 of his single “やるしかねえ feat. ELIONE & CHICO CARLITO” which climbed into Spotify’s Viral 50, confirming public interest in his new artistic direction.
