Rice Water Groove will release their new single, “Ice Melts feat. BaramonK”, this Wednesday, October 9. While the group has previously released music under the name IKE & Rice Water Groove Production, this new track marks their first release solely under the name Rice Water Groove in 2 years and nine months. The track features talkboxer BaramonK, a long-time collaborator and fellow label member.
“Ice Melts” is described as a meticulously crafted piece. It blends smooth funk with a Western vibe, incorporating elements of rap, ethereal vocals, and distinctive use of the talkbox, creating a resonant and captivating sound. TBS’93 handled the production, recording, mixing, and mastering, while Chancylemon created the melodic line and artwork.
Additionally, to coincide with the release of this new single, the music video for “The New Romantics feat. TBS’93” from Chancylemon’s debut solo album “with pulp”, released last year, has also been unveiled. This video, filmed in the city of Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture, captures the song’s world with striking visual beauty, intertwining reality and fantasy. The video’s central theme is time, symbolized by an hourglass, representing the finite nature of existence.
The video is directed by Yoshiya Nishio. Its cast includes Yutyforce from Doggy G Central Records and Shitaba from The Omedetazu, further enhancing the artistic and collaborative nature of the project.
