On Saturday, July 1st, rapper TAKUMA THE GREAT released his latest EP, “Nan-no.Sono“. Hailing from both Taiwan and Japan, TAKUMA THE GREAT is known not only as a member of the group HOOLIGANZ alongside BAN, Manju, and TOSHIKI HAYASHI (%C) but also for his ability to blend cultural influences in his music. As the title of the EP suggests, this new creation explores the concept of “what it is” in a world where dark news dominates.
The production of the EP was entrusted to KO-ney, considered one of the best MPC players in Japan, and SR23, who supported TAKUMA THE GREAT’s debut album with his versatile musical composition skills. Additionally, the participation of Yamaguchi-based beatmaker m-al, known for his collaborative song “DEAD SERIOUS” (2020) with Philadelphia, Level.13, and TOSHIKI HAYASHI (%C) from HOOLIGANZ can be found. Together, they explore various musical approaches, ranging from orthodox Boonbap to jazzy hip-hop to G-funk.
