The EP Laughing Gate by MIDICRONICA × KO-ney was released on February 28th! This four-track project blends warm analog synthesizers with beats crafted for the dancefloor.MIDICRONICA, still internationally recognized for creating the legendary closing theme of the anime Samurai Champloo, has joined forces with KO-ney, one of the best MPC performers and composer for artists like DA PUMP, to deliver an inspired EP.
The journey begins with “Cheers,” a track driven by analog sounds. Between memories and hopes, MIDICRONICA celebrates the past while raising a glass to the future, creating a festive and sincere anthem. Next comes “Shut out cool saying featuring rapper A.O., who rose to fame on Rap Star. Over KO-ney’s signature broken beat, the flows intersect in an energetic exchange. The mood then softens with “いつもそばに (feat. Hiro-a-key)“, a track imbued with melancholy and tenderness. Hiro-a-key’s (origami PRODUCTIONS) voice elevates this ode to the precious bonds that connect us to loved ones, whether partners, friends, or family members.
Finally, the title track, “Laughing Gate,” closes the EP on a euphoric note. Driven by drums, it embodies the Japanese adage 笑う門には福来る (Warau kado ni wa fuku kitaru)” – “Happiness enters through the door of those who laugh”.
