After 6 years of evolution, “IKE & rice water Groove Production” – a project launched in 2018 by Tokyo-based rapper IKE and rice water Groove (TBS’93, chancylemon) – has finally released their second full album, “Deal’n Galactica.” Since their first album, “YUPPIE“, in 2019, the group has evolved uniquely through 13 consecutive releases on their label <Doggy G Central Records>, deepening their solo activities, providing music for other artists, and various collaborations.
The new work “Deal’n Galactica” is a concept album set in the “universe’s greatest supermarket“, freely exploring contemporary themes such as consumption and creation, memory and experience, capital and ideas, health and desire. All tracks were produced by members IKE and TBS’93, featuring 13 songs with prestigious guest appearances, including “Midsummer Breeze feat. TOMORO (The Omedetaz), baramonK” which gently wraps summer memories, the hardcore anthem “CABECA DE COPO feat. Takeum (Umeda Cypher)” symbolizing trials and challenges, and “Straight talk from V762 feat. Emi Tawata” delivering a message of love across the galaxy.
To celebrate the release, a release party has been scheduled for Saturday, June 7th, at Omotesando WALL & WALL. IKE and rice water Groove Production will perform a special one-night-only set, offering an immersive performance where attendees can experience the album’s world with their entire bodies. Guests include the Latin instrumental band SEPTETO BUNGA TROPIS, led by saxophonist Shioto Takai, known for DC/PRG. This one-night collaboration, where hip-hop and Latin musical roots intersect with rhythm and passion, was realized through IKE & rice water Groove Production’s passionate invitation and promises to be a rare and monumental performance in the current scene.
Additionally, a special dance session and showcase by Galaxy Plug Dancers, a dance team formed exclusively for this day, will express Doggy G’s essence and the album’s worldview through “physical” expression, vividly reflecting the nature of hip-hop culture even in contemporary times. Another party highlight is the extensive merchandise lineup embodying the “universe’s greatest supermarket.” Centered around the album concept, items that shine even in the corner of the galaxy will be available – a unique opportunity to hear, touch, take home, and install the world of “Deal’n Galactica” into daily life.
The floor will be energized by the DJ plays of SEX Yamaguchi, who accelerates the venue’s atmosphere to the extreme, and DJ Komogi, who manipulates sound and air. Five elements—LIVE, LATIN, DANCE, DJ, and GOODS—complete a five-dimensional party engaging all senses. A nebular night flight where multiple cultures and sensations intersect.
