Rapper SHINGO★NISHINARI has officially announced the release of his new album, Drum Can no Uta, which will be released on April 29, Japan’s national holiday Shōwa no Hi. Three years after his last project, this highly anticipated album consists of thirteen carefully selected tracks from around thirty contenders.
As a preview, SHINGO★NISHINARI is unveiling the title track Drum Can no Uta today, a response to Ningen Hatsudensho by BUDDHA BRAND. Over a beat produced by NAOtheLAIZA, the artist delivers lyrics deeply rooted in his personal experiences, shaped by the landscapes he’s traveled through and the life lessons that have molded his worldview. With an earnest and heartfelt approach, this track is a genuine testimony to his journey.
The music video, released simultaneously with the single, was filmed in the iconic Triangle Park in Nishinari during the peak of winter. A striking detail is that the video was shot by SHINGO★NISHINARI’s son, giving the project an even more personal touch. Through this visual, the artist conveys a message of hope: overcoming the harsh winter to welcome spring together.
Drum Can no Uta promises to be a profoundly introspective musical project, encapsulating half a century of experiences and emotions and more than two decades of a rap career. In a stripped-down, no-frills approach, SHINGO★NISHINARI embraces a one-mic style featuring no vocal collaborations. On the production side, he teams up with renowned figures such as DJ FUKU, EVISBEATS, NAOtheLAIZA, SUMICO PLUE, XLII, KOYANMUSIC, and NOAH, ensuring a diverse soundscape that reinforces his storytelling with power and coherence.
