Awich started 2023 by participating in a TV documentary on the NHK channel. Announced for several weeks, Awich appeared in “Okaeri Ongakushitsu” (おかえり音楽室). It is a recent documentary television program in which an artist returns to his hometown. Viewers could see Awich make his triumphant return live in the music hall of his hometown. Two programs have already been released. The January 7 broadcast with Sota Hanamura and the January 14 broadcast in which Awich visits Urasoe City, a city in Okinawa. It allowed her to return to the island where she was born while meeting her English teacher and her former classmates. After emotional encounters, the Okinawa native performed live music at her Alma Mater.
During these programs, she said :
“As I reconnected with the people who cared for my friends and me, I spent time with and thought back to my words; I reconfirmed that my strong feelings at that time have now been realized.
It didn’t go as planned, and we took many detours. But I am finally getting closer to what I have drawn in the past.
Thanks to all of you who kindly accepted and supported me as a child and were not ashamed to talk about my great vision at the time. I thank you”.
Now considered by her peers as one of the biggest stars of the Japanese hip-hop scene, Awich has received numerous awards. In December 2022, she featured on the YouTube channel THE FIRST TAKE with Kandytown rapper Keiju and on the cover of CQ JAPAN magazine. In addition, Awich will be doing a tour called THE ROAD TO ARENA starting April 30, 2023. It will be live in the cities of Sapporo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Osaka, and Tokyo.
