About BAD HOP
BAD HOP is a Japanese rap group from Kawasaki in the Kanagawa prefecture. Consisting of eight members, T-Pablow, Yzerr, Tiji Jojo, Benjazzy, Yellow Pato, Bark, G-Kid, and Vingo, the group quickly became the leading Japanese rap group, embodying the new generation of artists in the Japanese hip-hop scene.
In 2014, BAD HOP achieved massive success with the release of their first independent album, BAD HOP ERA, which they distributed for free to fans and made available for free download. They also released their first independent mixtape, BADHOPBOX. The group gained popularity and appeared in Vice Japan’s documentary MADE IN KAWASAKI, which garnered over three million views. The documentary shows the artists’ daily environment in the industrial zone of Kawasaki. After two more independent mixtapes, BAD HOP 1 DAY and BAD HOP ALL DAY, BAD HOP was approached by KSR Corp. to distribute their first work nationally and internationally, Mobb Life. The same year, they had a successful MOBB LIFE TOUR throughout Japan.
In 2018, BAD HOP released its second mini-album titled BAD HOP HOUSE. The group also offered a free mini-album, BAD HOP ALLDAY Vol.2, at a one-person live concert titled Breath of South at the Nippon Budokan. In 2019, the group had a very eventful year, with a new tour titled COLD IN SUMMER ZEPP TOUR and the release of the single “Born this way” which was selected as the ending theme for the anime Kengan Ashura.
The coronavirus pandemic hit Japan at the beginning of 2020, forcing BAD HOP to perform without audiences at the Yokohama Arena and broadcast the event for free on YouTube. A few months later, BAD HOP’s second album, BAD HOP WORLD, was released, followed by the deluxe version in 2021. This album features other renowned rappers such as MC TYSON, Keiju, Lex, Jin Dogg, and JP THE WAVY.
